The GR34, the customs officers' path starting from the house
It's one of the rare assets of Ty Ar Mor: the legendary GR34, the customs officers' path, runs just a few steps from the house. Lace up your trainers, push open the gate, and set off to explore the wild coast of the Crozon peninsula — without ever taking the car.
What is the customs officers' path?
The GR34, nicknamed the customs officers' path (sentier des douaniers), runs along the entire Breton coastline for more than 2,000 kilometres, from the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel to the bay of Bourgneuf. Originally created to watch over the coast and fight smuggling, it is today one of the most famous hiking routes in France, hugging the shoreline as closely as possible.
On the Crozon peninsula, it offers some of its most beautiful stretches: sheer cliffs, secret coves, sandy beaches, heathland of gorse and heather, and breathtaking panoramas over the Atlantic.
Starting from Kersiguenou
From the house, you reach the GR34 directly, where it overlooks the Kersiguenou beach. In just a few steps you're out on the path, facing the open sea. Whether you fancy a short stroll before breakfast or a full day's hike, it all begins right on the doorstep.
Hiking ideas
- Northwards: towards the Pointe de Dinan and its striking "Château de Dinan", a rock linked to the coast, with spectacular views.
- Southwards: following the coast towards the Cap de la Chèvre, at the tip of the peninsula, a balcony over the ocean amid the heathland.
- Day loops: many circuits combine the GR34 with inland paths to return to your starting point.
To go further, the path also links the great sites of the peninsula: the Pointe de Pen-Hir, the big surf beaches and the harbours of Camaret and Morgat.
Unspoilt nature
The path crosses the Armorique Regional Nature Park. As the seasons turn, you'll come across gorse and heather in bloom, seabirds, and perhaps dolphins offshore. Please respect these fragile habitats: stay on the waymarked trails (the white-and-red markings of the GR), keep dogs under control, and take your litter home with you.
